Who said this?

“He who writes the stories defines the culture.”
I love that quote. It's apparently hanging in the office of John Butler, Creative Director at Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners (via AdPulp), but he doesn't know who originally said it.
Does anyone else?
Thank you both for the answer!

Hi Steph - The actual quote "whoever tells the stories defines the culture" is generally attributed to Dr. David Walsh, President and CEO of the National Institute for Media and the Family, in his March 2000 statement to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. The context was in criticism of the [video] gaming industry's tendency to "produce games that glorify violence and anti-social behavior."

I found a similar quote by David Walsh, the founder of National Institute on Media and the Family: "Whoever tells the story defines the culture."
